Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Advances in Chronic Diseases is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal, and its publication processes are based on the impartial production, development, and sharing of scientifically generated knowledge in accordance with ethical and scientific standards.
 
Articles submitted to the journal for publication must meet the journal's objectives and scope. Original, unpublished manuscripts not under review by another journal, with content and submission approved by each author, are accepted for consideration. After submission, no author's name may be removed from the author list without the written consent of all authors, nor may a new author be added, nor may the order of authors be changed.
 
By submitting any manuscript to Advances in Chronic Diseases, authors acknowledge and agree to the journal's "Author Guidelines," all terms and conditions, and that the authors have transferred all publication rights to Advances in Chronic Diseases indefinitely.
 
Advances in Chronic Diseases retains all publication rights for articles accepted for publication. Articles may not be published, reproduced, or used without reference in another publication without permission from the journal's management. Advances in Chronic Diseases may publish published articles on various platforms, including indexing and social media, to ensure their widespread distribution.
 
Publication Ethics
 
Advances in Chronic Diseases adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the ethical publishing principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
 
All articles submitted for publication in the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under review by another journal. Previously presented articles at congresses must be noted in the Cover Letter. Each article undergoes a double-blind review by one of the editors and at least two reviewers. Plagiarism, duplication, false authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, publication by slicing, copyright infringement, and concealment of conflicts of interest are considered unethical behaviors and are the responsibility of the authors. All articles that do not comply with accepted ethical standards will be removed from publication. This includes articles containing potential irregularities or inappropriateness identified after publication.
 
For all prospective and retrospective studies, whether interventional or non-interventional, conducted on humans or animals, the required "Ethics Committee Approval" must be obtained. The title page must include the Ethics Committee Approval number and the date (Day, Month, Year) on which it was obtained. A copy of the "Ethics Committee/Commission Approval" must also be uploaded electronically to the system. For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, the phrase "Ethics Committee approval is not required for this study" must be written on the title page. The journal requires authors to identify the ethics committee that approved the study.
 
Research requiring ethics committee approval:
 
All types of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches requiring data collection from participants using surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or interview techniques;
The use of humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes;
Clinical research conducted on humans;
Research conducted on animals;
Studies conducted with data obtained from personal databases and biobanks;
All types of retrospective studies in accordance with personal data protection law;
 
Furthermore;
 
Permission must be obtained and stated for the use of scales, surveys, and photographs belonging to others;
It must be stated that copyright regulations are complied with for the intellectual and artistic works used.
 
Research Ethics
 
All research protocols involving humans must comply with the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki* (Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects), the US Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects**, and the European Medicines Agency Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice. Furthermore, in experimental animal studies, authors must state that the procedures followed comply with animal welfare in the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (http://oacu.od.nih.gov/regs/guide/guide.pdf).
 
The journal upholds the highest standards in research ethics and adopts the international research ethics principles described below, along with the international standards mentioned above. The authors are responsible for ensuring that articles comply with ethical guidelines, and the journal expects adherence to these standards.
